Last year as my Kindergartners Room Parent, I had to come up with a variety of fun kid friendly games for the class parties. It was so much fun, I wish I had the squeals and laughter of them playing candy cane fishing. Candy Cane Fishing Game sounds so easy right, well it’s pretty challenging. Your family would have a great time on Christmas Eve or at a party playing this game. Those candy canes are hard to catch.

Supplies for Christmas Games for Kids
Let’s Create a Fun Christmas Candy Cane Fishing Game for Kids
To get started make your fishing pole. Hot glue ribbon to the end of the candy cane and wrap the ribbon and glue, at least 3 times.
With the other end of the ribbon, hot glue and wrap it around the end of the dowel. Hot glue saves the day again and now you have a candy cane fishing pole. Remind everyone playing not to hit the candy cane into the floor because it will break. Definitely have an extra candy cane fishing pole or two.
I used this cute bucket from the Dollar Tree. Inside the bucket, put something to help the candy canes stay up on the edge so they are easier to fish for. A small paper snack bowl works perfectly to hold the candy canes up.
Put your center piece in, then add the candy canes all around. Guiding the candy cane fishing pole to the bucket is harder than it looks. This Christmas class party game was a challenge last year for the kids, but they loved it.
Can you imagine some adults going candy cane fishing after a few eggnogs? Haha, it would be funny!
The great thing about this game is it’s kid and family friendly, It can be played at a class party, a Christmas party or as a family on Christmas Eve to keep busy as you wait for Santa. The game is budget friendly, practical and fun for all ages.
For the class party, the basic fishing was perfect (plus you are on a time crunch), but for a Christmas party or family fun, you could make the game more interesting. On each candy cane have a strip of paper that gives a direction, example- take an extra turn, sing a Christmas song, etc. That would be a great twist on an already fun game.
